Lampung Province NTP in May 2012 for each subsector was recorded at 134.51 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 111.76 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 128.35 for the People's Plantation Plantation Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 105.68 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 114.51 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 125.06.
The increase in prices in the plantation crop sub-sector, namely cocoa and pepper, as well as the fisheries sub-sector, such as the price of tuna and anchovies, made Lampung's NTP increase 0.12 percent compared to the previous month.
Compared with April 2012, apart from the rice and secondary crops sub-sector which experienced a decrease of 0.11 percent, four other sub-sectors experienced an increase in NTP, namely the horticultural crops sub-sector increased 0.20 percent, the smallholder plantation crops sub-sector increased 0.61 percent, the the livestock sector rose 0.09 percent, and the fisheries sub-sector rose 0.40 percent.
Of the 32 provinces, 17 provinces experienced an increase in NTP and 15 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP. The highest increase in NTP occurred in East Java Province, namely 0.51 percent, this was because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.43 percent, while the price received by farmers increased by 0.94 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in West Sumatra Province, which fell by 1.01 percent, because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.11 percent while the price received by farmers actually fell by 0.90 percent.
In May 2012, inflation occurred in rural areas in Lampung Province of 0.13 percent. Inflation in rural areas was mainly caused by an increase in the price index in the ready-made food and foodstuffs group, as well as an increase in the index in other groups.
