In May 2013, the city of Bandar Lampung experienced deflation again. Only two expenditure groups contributed to the formation of deflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the foodstuffs group contributed to deflation at 0.53 percent and the clothing group at 0.09 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that contributed to inflation were the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups at 0.17 percent; health group by 0.03 percent; education, recreation and sports group at 0.01 percent; and the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group contributed to inflation of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the transport, communications and financial services groups did not contribute. Price changes in the seven expenditure groups caused deflation in Bandar Lampung City of 0.40 percent.
Several commodities that dominantly contributed to deflation include shallots, garlic, gold jewelry, tomatoes, rice, fresh tuna, fresh goldfish, fresh mackerel, young jackfruit, watermelon and cooking oil.
Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), deflation in Bandar Lampung City occurred due to a decline in the index in the foodstuffs group which fell 1.83 percent; clothing group fell 1.60 percent; and the transportation, communications and financial services group fell 0.01. Meanwhile, the health group experienced an increase in the index of 0.99 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group increased by 0.75 percent; the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.12 percent; and the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.03 percent.
Deflation The city of Bandar Lampung was ranked 51st out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. Of the 66 cities, 43 cities experienced deflation and 23 cities experienced inflation. The largest deflation occurred in Mataram at 1.03 percent, while the lowest deflation occurred in Tasikmalaya and Pekanbaru at 0.01 percent each. The highest inflation was experienced by Ambon at 2.25 percent, while the lowest inflation was experienced by Bogor at 0.01 percent.
Bandar Lampung City, based on calendar year inflation calculations (point to point) in May 2013 was 1.83 percent and year on year (yoy) inflation was 5.28 percent.
