Abstract
In July 2013, the city of Bandar Lampung experienced inflation again. Five expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the transport, communication and financial services group contributed 1.33 percent; the foodstuffs group contributed to inflation of 1.03 percent; the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group contributed to inflation of 0.33 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group contributed 0.13 percent; and the education, recreation and sports group at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing group gave a negative contribution, namely 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, the health group did not contribute this July. Price changes in the six expenditure groups caused inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 2.75 percent. Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include gasoline, city transportation, red onions, filtered clove cigarettes, kretek cigarettes, purebred chicken meat, rice, bricks/tela, fresh squid, and apples. Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation in Bandar Lampung City occurred due to an increase in the index in the transport, communication and financial services group which rose 10.40 percent; food ingredients group rose 3.63 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 1.65 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group increased by 0.55 percent; the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.11 percent; and the health group experienced an increase in the index of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing group fell by 1.37 percent. Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 47th out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. Of the 66 cities, all experienced inflation. High inflation occurred in Ternate at 6.04 percent and Sorong at 5.09 percent, while low inflation occurred in Singkawang at 1.36 percent and Sibolga at 1.71 percent. Bandar Lampung City, based on calendar year (point to point) inflation calculations in July 2013, was 5.46 percent and year on year (yoy) inflation was 7.62 percent.
