Abstract

In July 2020 there was inflation of 0.11 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.14. Out of 90 CPI cities, 29 cities experienced inflation and 61 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Timika by 1.45 percent with CPI of 106.95 and the lowest occurred in Jember and Banyuwangi by 0.01 percent with CPI of 104.77 and 103.50 respectively. While the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari by 1.09 percent with CPI of 107.21 and the lowest occurred in Gunungsitoli, Bogor, Bekasi, Luwuk and Bulukumba by 0.01 percent with CPI of 103.29 each; 106.22; 106.98; 107.22 and 106.05.

Inflation occurred because of an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in most of the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.37 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.10 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.34 percent; health group of 0.09 percent; the information, communication and financial services group by 0.06 percent and the personal care and other services group by 0.62 percent. While the groups that experienced deflation were housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 0.06 percent and transportation by 0.38 percent. While in the recreation, sports and culture group; the education and food and beverage supply groups did not change the index.
