Abstract

In December 2023, the combined year-on-year (yoy) inflation between the two cities in Lampung was 3.47 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 118.65. Yoy inflation in Bandar Lampung City was 3.52 percent, with a CPI of 118.66 and YoY inflation in Metro City was 3.05 percent with a CPI of 118.60.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most indexes (inflation) of expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 9.36 percent; clothing and footwear group 1.55 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and household fuel group 0.70 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group 2.15 percent; health group 1.10 percent; recreation, sports and culture group 1.41 percent; education group 3.68 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group 0.98 percent; and the personal care and other services group 1.57 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the index (deflation) were: the transportation group at 0.27 percent and the information, communication and financial services group at 0.28 percent.
The main commodities contributing to inflation yoy in December 2023 include rice, red chilies, filter clove cigarettes, garlic, cayenne pepper, pump drinking water rates and granulated sugar.
The month to month (mtm) inflation rate for December 2023 was recorded at 0.01 percent and the year to date (ytd) inflation rate for December 2023 was 3.47 percent.
