After three months of experiencing deflation, in June 2011 the city of Bandar Lampung experienced inflation again. The housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups provide the largest contribution to the formation of inflation in the city of Bandar Lampung. Then successively followed by the food ingredient group; health group; prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups; educational, recreational, and sports groups; and clothing groups. Meanwhile, only one group is holding back the rate of inflation, namely the transport, communications and financial services group. The increase in prices of various commodities in the six expenditure groups resulted in inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 0.29 percent.
In June 2011, six expenditure groups experienced an increase in the index which caused inflation, and only the transport, communication and financial services group experienced a decrease in the index. Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 53rd out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. A total of 65 cities experienced inflation and only 1 city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ambon at 3.76 percent, while the lowest inflation was in Padang Sidempuan at 0.04 percent. Deflation occurred in Tanjung Pinang at 0.57 percent.
Based on the calculation of the consumer price index (CPI), inflation occurred due to an increase in the index in the health expenditure group, up 0.96 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas, fuel rose 0.66 percent; the foodstuffs group rose 0.22 percent; the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.09 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.09 percent; and the clothing group rose 0.09 percent. The transport, communications and financial services group experienced a decline in the index of 0.01 percent.
Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include household fuel, house contracts, oranges, spinach, purebred chicken eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, wet cakes, long beans and purebred chicken meat. Calendar year (point to point) inflation in June 2011 was 1.26 percent, while year on year (yoy) inflation in Bandar Lampung City was 8.42 percent.
