Like the previous month, the city of Bandar Lampung in February was still experiencing inflation. There are six expenditure groups that contribute to the formation of inflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the foodstuffs group; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups; prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups; educational, recreational, and sports groups; transport, communications and financial services group; and health groups. Meanwhile, the clothing group makes a negative contribution or restrains the rate of inflation. Price changes in the seven expenditure groups caused inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 0.73 percent.
Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include garlic, tomatoes, non-foreman craftsmen, electricity rates, shallots, fried chicken, young jackfruit, house contracts, fresh anchovies and fresh goldfish.
Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation in Bandar Lampung City occurred due to an increase in the index in the foodstuffs group which rose 1.33 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 1.09 percent; the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.53 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.41 percent; the transportation, communications and financial services group rose 0.12 percent; and the health group rose 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing group experienced a decline in the index of 0.61 percent.
Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 31st out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. Of the 66 cities, 60 cities experienced inflation and only 6 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura at 3.15 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Sibolga at 0.12 percent. The highest deflation was experienced by Ambon City at 2.29 percent, while the lowest deflation was experienced by Sampit City at 0.01 percent.
Bandar Lampung City, based on calendar year inflation calculations (point to point) in February 2013 was 1.74 percent and year on year (yoy) inflation was 5.56 percent.
