In June 2013, the city of Bandar Lampung experienced inflation after experiencing deflation for the previous two months. All expenditure groups (seven) contributed to the formation of inflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the transport, communication and financial services groups contributed 0.51 percent; the foodstuffs group contributed to inflation of 0.22 percent; and the education, recreation and sports group at 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups; health group; clothing group; and the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups contributed to inflation of 0.01 percent each. Price changes in the seven expenditure groups caused inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 0.79 percent.
Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include gasoline, city transportation, rice, purebred chicken eggs, red chilies, purebred chicken meat, household fuel, fresh mackerel, jeans, and bananas.
Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation in Bandar Lampung City occurred due to an increase in the index in the transport, communication and financial services group which rose 4.12 percent; food ingredients group rose 0.79 percent; the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.31 percent; the health group experienced an increase in index of 0.30 percent; clothing group rose 0.14 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group increased by 0.06 percent; and the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.05 percent.
Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 42nd out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. Of the 66 cities, 65 cities experienced inflation and only one city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga at 1.96 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Gorontalo at 0.11 percent. Ambon only experienced deflation of 0.15 percent.
Bandar Lampung City, based on calendar year inflation calculations (point to point) in June 2013 was 2.63 percent and year on year (yoy) inflation was 5.29 percent.
