September 2013, the city of Bandar Lampung experienced inflation again. Five expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the ready-made food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups which contributed to inflation of 0.38 percent; the clothing group contributed 0.14 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group contributed 0.12 percent; the health group contributed 0.04 percent; and the education, recreation and sports group contributed 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the foodstuffs group contributed to deflation of 0.47 percent. Meanwhile, the transport, communications and financial services groups did not contribute this September. Price changes in the seven expenditure groups caused inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 0.23 percent.
Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include tempeh, filtered clove cigarettes, gold jewelry, raw tofu, clove cigarettes, coconut, sand, house contracts, non-foreman craftsmen, and specialist doctors.
Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation in Bandar Lampung City occurred due to an increase in the index in the clothing group which rose by 2.71 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 1.90 percent; health group rose 1.27 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group increased by 0.51 percent; the education, recreation and sports group rose by 0.35 percent; and the transportation, communications and financial services group which rose 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the food ingredients group fell 1.63 percent.
Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 8th out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. Of the 66 cities, 13 cities experienced inflation and 53 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pinang at 1.70 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Singkawang and Sukabumi at 0.04 percent. The largest deflation was experienced by the city of Sorong at 4.28 percent, while the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Surabaya at 0.02 percent. Bandar Lampung City, based on calendar year (point to point) inflation calculations in September 2013, was 7.05 percent and year on year (yoy) inflation was 7.68 percent.
