In August 2013, the city of Bandar Lampung experienced inflation again. Four expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the foodstuffs group contributed to inflation of 1.04 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group contributed 0.12 percent; the clothing group contributed 0.10 percent; and the transport, communications and financial services group contributed to inflation of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, ready-made food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups; educational, recreational and sports groups; and the health group this August did not contribute. Price changes in the seven expenditure groups caused inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 1.27 percent.
Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include tomatoes, fresh squid, gold jewelry, electricity rates, coconuts, vegetable tomatoes, fresh mackerel, grapes, live chickens and red onions.
Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation in Bandar Lampung City occurred due to an increase in the index in the foodstuffs group, up 3.64 percent; clothing group rose 1.79 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group increased by 0.55 percent; and the transportation, communications and financial services group which rose 0.11 percent. Meanwhile, the education, recreation and sports group fell by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, ready-made food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups; and the health group did not experience changes in the index.
Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 27th out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. Of the 66 cities, all experienced inflation. High inflation occurred in Sorong at 6.47 percent and Ambon at 4.79 percent, while low inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang at 0.15 percent and Kupang at 0.19 percent.
Bandar Lampung City, based on calendar year inflation calculations (point to point) in August 2013 was 6.80 percent and year on year (yoy) inflation was 7.78 percent.
